what i did
I wrote the following impact case studies, which were published in the ARDC’s annual impact report.
I also copyedited and proofread the 2022 impact booklet, Accelerating Research and Innovation Through Data, and reviewed and suggested improvements to other case studies and articles included in the booklet.
CASE STUDY: Shared Vocabularies Create Oceans of Opportunities
Research vocabularies are helping researchers aggregate data from a wide range of sources and disciplines to find evidence-based solutions to big societal challenges such as climate change.
This case study is featured in the ARDC’s 2022 impact booklet, Accelerating Research and Innovation Through Data.

“A crucial part of what makes this machine-to-machine data sharing possible, streamlined and fast is the agreed research terminology, defined in ‘research vocabularies’, which institutions share and adhere to for describing collections of data—both the metadata and the data itself.“

CASE STUDY: The Genomic Fight to Save the Macquarie Perch
Understanding the genetic diversity of the endangered Macquarie perch is improving the success of management and conservation programs.
This case study is featured in the ARDC 2021 impact booklet, Leading Australia to Data-Driven Research Impact.

“All of the recommendations from the research have been incorporated into the species’ National Recovery Plan, and the genetic management approach is now being used to help conserve more of Australia’s unique biodiversity.“
