The client had solid ideas about creating a newsletter for communicating with 3 groups:
- general practitioners.
They needed guidance on how to go about it, and how to make sure the newsletters are appropriate for each group, especially in terms of jargon. They also wanted the content to be professionally edited.
What I did
I advised the client on the publication process for the newsletter, and the benefits of tailoring the content and language for each group and for the media (both print and digital versions are required).
I reviewed drafts of articles (by different authors) and offered feedback on structure, content, style, voice, length and images.
I copyedited each article for each edition and crafted titles, teasers and subheadings.
For the digital versions, I applied web-writing techniques for readability and findability.
I also proofread each edition.
- PIXEL Edition 1 – GP Edition was published in November 2017.
- PIXEL Edition 1 – Patient Edition [PDF of print edition] was published in March 2018.
- PIXEL Edition 1 – Optometrist Edition was published in May 2018.
I am continuing to provide editorial services on an ongoing basis.
“We truly feel so incredibly lucky to have connected with Mary. Finding her was like finding a jewel.
We were searching for an experienced wordsmith to critique our scribbles. With her ‘eagle eye’ the messages have been honed and the team focused on more effective communication skills. She has guided, developed and supported our ideas by teaching us how to transform them into sparkling prose and powerful PIXELs [our e-newsletter].
We strongly recommend her and commend her professional style.”
